Get Ready For Episode VII With Star Wars Journeys: The Phantom Menace

May 2, 2014

Star Wars Journeys: The Phantom Menace is a new app from Disney that’s designed to retell the first episode of the “Star Wars” film series in an interesting new way. Offering original art, hidden features, and even a thrilling podracing mode, the new application can be downloaded on the App Store for $6.99 and it’s optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

First and foremost, the app is a visual storybook that tells the narrative of George Lucas’s “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.” It uses a 180-degree parallax scrolling feature to make the experience more immersive, and original artwork and character profiles also feature in each scene.

The second part of the game is its podracing mode, and here users can take to the sands of Tatooine in their own podracer in order to compete against other drivers. An in-app points system allows users to upgrade their podracers, and fortunately, in-app purchases (IAPs) are absent from the application (meaning you’ll need to work hard in order to succeed!).

Features include:

  • Uncover the story of the saga while tapping to reveal hidden content
  • Sharpen your Jedi mastery and test your ability against the fastest and fiercest racers in four different galaxies
  • Customize your very own podracer with visual and performance enhancements to improve your results
  • Participate in tournaments, time trials, and daily racing events to win special rewards

Given that “Star Wars: Episode VII” is in the pipeline, Disney’s app provides fans of the series with the chance of experiencing the “Star Wars” story in a whole new way. Disney has confirmed that there’ll be a Star Wars Journeys app for each episode in the series, and adds in the app’s release notes that Star Wars Journeys: Attack of the Clones “is coming very soon!”

Star Wars Journeys: The Phantom Menace can be downloaded now on the App Store for $6.99, and it’s optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Fans of the “Star Wars” film series may also be interested to hear that Star Wars: Assault Team got a nice update recently, and that ZEN Studios’ Star Wars Pinball also received an update adding four new tables earlier this week.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic can also be downloaded for just $3.99 for a limited time in celebration of Star Wars Day, May 4.
