Updated: Simon & Schuster Titles Join Oyster, The ‘Netflix Of Books’

May 21, 2014
See update below. Oyster has announced that Simon & Schuster titles are now available through the “Netflix for books” service. This news comes just weeks after the New York-based company announced that its library has grown to include 500,000 titles from more than 1,600 publishers. Among the many titles now available through Oyster include:
  • “Steve Jobs” by Walter Isaacson
  • “Angela’s Ashes” by Frank McCourt
  • “Nineteen Minutes” by Jodi Picoult
  • “Angels and Demons” by Dan Brown
In addition, many of the titles in Stephen King’s vast library are now available including "In the Tall Grass," "11/22/63," "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon," and more. First launched last fall, Oyster allows users to read unlimited books on the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad for $9.95 per month. Besides Simon & Schuster, Oyster's growing library includes titles from HarperCollins, Houghton Mifflin, Harcourt, Rodale, and Smashwords, the world's largest distributor of self-published e-books. Books from Disney Publishing were added earlier this year. Simon & Schuster authors include: Hillary Rodham Clinton, Stephen Hunter, Glenn Beck, and many more.
