Apple's Omotesando Tokyo Retail Store Is Opening Its Doors On June 13

June 10, 2014
Cupertino's impressive, eco-friendly retail store in Omotesando, Japan finally has a launch date: June 13. According to 9to5mac, "invitations to attend the day one experience have already been sent out," and the retail store's Grand Opening is indeed scheduled for this coming Friday. Located in Tokyo along Omotesando avenue, the new retail store made headlines last month when news concerning its environmental efforts hit the Web. In an attempt to control the temperature inside the upcoming Apple Retail Store, Cupertino's architects and designers came up with a novel curtain for the building's glass, sun-facing wall -- one made out of vines and leaves. The effect is impressive, while also saving Apple from having to spend money installing and running air conditioning units. Of course, this goes towards reducing Cupertino's carbon footprint, too. In Japan, two further retail stores are located in Tokyo, and seven additional venues are spread across the entire nation. Apple is performing incredibly well in the nation at the minute, and as such it's no wonder Cupertino is looking to increase its presence in Japan with a further retail location. We'll keep you updated with further information as we receive it. See also: Finger-Flickin’ Good: Chillingo To Serve Order Up!!
