Microsoft has just unveiled an update to its OneDrive cloud storage app. Version 4.2 offers two notable improvements.
First up, users can now open their documents directly in Microsoft’s Office for iPad (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or Office Mobile for the iPhone.
The update also improves the automatic camera backup feature by allowing it to occur in the background.
A universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini, OneDrive can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
Earlier this week, Microsoft also announced some changes to the service to make it more competitive in the crowded cloud storage marketplace. Starting in July, Office 365 subscribers will have access to an impressive 1TB of storage, up dramatically from the current 25GB.
All users will received 15GB of space for free, up from the current 7GB. The price of additional storage will also see a dramatic drop.
Instead of $7.49 per month for 100GB, Microsoft will just charge $1.99. And 200GB will just cost $3.99 per month, down from $11.49.
