Walmart Discounts iPhone 5c To $29 And iPhone 5s To $99 ... For Good
June 27, 2014
With just three months to go before Apple launches its lineup of next-generation smartphones, getting one of the iOS device maker's current iPhones may not be the best idea. But if you like the idea of getting an iPhone 5c or an iPhone 5s at a significant discount, then you should definitely consider buying at Walmart.
As confirmed by one of its spokespersons to Engadget, Walmart is set to offer discounts on Apple's latest smartphones beginning tomorrow. With a two-year contract, the 16GB iPhone 5c will be available for just $29 (down from $49) and the 16GB iPhone 5s will go for $99 (down from $149).
Walmart carried out similar price cuts for a limited-time promo earlier this year. But these latest cuts are said to be permanent, perhaps on account of the imminent release of the next-generation iPhones.
Note that the discounts will be available only in stores. They will be effective from 9 a.m. local time tomorrow, June 27.
No discount pricing has been announced by Walmart for the 32GB versions of the iPhone 5c and the iPhone 5s. But Engadget notes that those models will also go through a permanent markdown.
