With less than a week to go before the premiere of “Sharknado 2: The Second One" on Syfy, Philips has announced a fun partnership with the TV network.
Users of the Hue lighting system who download the SyFy Sync app for their iOS devices can see a “light track” during the premiere of the movie on Wednesday, July 30.
Basically, that means the app will detect audio cues from the movie and will change the Hue lighting effects to reflect the increasingly stormy weather conditions, shark carnage, and more.
And if you’d like to see how the integration works now, it’s available when watching the original “Sharknado” on a number of platforms.
Syfy Sync is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
If you don’t already own a Philips Hue system, you can purchase a starter kit, which includes three light bulbs and a bridge, for $199.95. It’s available at a number of retailers, including your local Apple Store and Apple's online store.
