Apple retail head Angela Ahrendts shares insights in debut tour Q&A session

August 2, 2014

Angela Ahrendts has been going on a tour through Apple's retail stores as part of her debut as Apple's Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Stores, a position she has held for three months now. As reported by 9to5Mac, the former Burberry CEO toured through Apple's stores in New York City today and participated in a Q&A session with some store managers earlier this week, some portions of which were shared by her in a memo to retail employees today.

In the memo, Ahrendts shared her responses to several of the questions in the session, ranging from the professional (“How can we become better ambassadors of the company as the face of Apple?”) to the personal (“Tell us more about Angela, the person.”) To the latter, she answered:

Lastly, I am not sure if there are personal facts I can share that aren’t already in the public domain, but I’m so proud that my husband and I will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary next month. We have three amazing teens, two wonderful Bernese mountain dogs, and two beautiful rag doll cats who will soon make their journey to San Francisco.

In closing, Ahrendts said in her memo that her first 90 days at Apple had been “amazing.” “I sincerely am honored to be here with you on this fantastic journey,” she added.

Since her official appointment at Apple at the beginning of last May, Ahrendts has been at the forefront of Apple's sustained retail-related efforts, with various plans she has initiated toward a major restructuring and expansion of the company’s retail stores.

In June, through a blog post on LinkedIn, Ahrendts shared some professional and personal insights into ”starting anew,“ i.e., her transition from CEO of Burberry in London to SVP of Retail and Online Stores at Apple in Cupertino.
