Cydia tweak: SpotFile usefully adds iFile functionality to Spotlight

August 13, 2014

SpotFile, a new jailbreak tweak, allows iOS device owners to add a series of iFile-like features to Spotlight search.

Optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and available on the Cydia Store for $1.49, SpotFile makes it possible for users to search for and view folders in the iOS filesystem using the Spotlight interface.

Once revealed in Spotlight, users can then open files using iFile or MyFile, delete items, attach files to emails, upload files to Dropbox, and save images to the Photos application. You can also copy a file path and install a Debian package, as iDownloadBlog explains.

The ability to preview images and rename files is also incoming, according to the jailbreak tweak’s developer. All of the above options are available to access from the copy and paste menu.

No options are available to configure in SpotFile; instead, the jailbreak tweak should begin working its magic immediately upon being downloaded and installed.

You can pick up SpotFile on the Cydia Store for $1.49. As mentioned, it’s optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
