New 'iPhone 6' leak shows new camera lens, logo and more

August 12, 2014

Four weeks from today, we should be getting our first official glimpse at the next iPhone. Until then, the rumor mill remains in overdrive. The latest image purportedly showing the “iPhone 6” comes courtesy of Sonny Dickson.

As you can see, the image shows a dented back panel, which has clearly seen better days. Nonetheless, it shows a design consistent with other leaked components. These include a protruding camera lensround version of the True Tone flash, and embedded Apple logo.

Additionally, it appears that Apple is using a new design to allow the internal antennas to work through the handset's metal exterior.

I'm fairly confident that Dickson's image is authentic. The big unknown is whether Apple will announce one, or two new iPhones next month. A variety of sources have long said that a 4.7-inch iPhone is coming. Less certain is whether a long-rumored 5.5-inch model is also going to be announced this year. We should know very soon. Last week, the reliable Re/Code said that Apple's 2014 iPhone event is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 9.
