Uber updated with destination entry for riders and turn-by-turn navigation for drivers
Uber has just launched a couple of new features that go toward the popular car-on-demand company’s goal to put ride-sharing in cruise control.
“We envision a day when there is no coordination necessary to take an Uber ride,” Uber says in a new blog post. “Simply push the button, and the rest is essentially on cruise control: the car quickly shows up at exactly the right place and whisks you away to your destination via the best possible route. The latest rider and driver app releases take us one step closer to that world with two new features.”
First, there’s the new feature in Uber’s rider app that makes for quick and easy destination entry. This, in turn, allows the driver to automatically see the destination upon pickup of the rider.
Second, there’s turn-by-turn navigation in Uber’s driver app. This lets the driver view turn-by-turn directions for the rider’s set destination with just one tap right within the Uber app, as opposed to checking the same in other apps.
Uber was previously updated early last week with support for Uber Business for frequent corporate travelers.
