VVVVVV, the popular retro platformer, goes on sale for the first time ever
Terry Cavanagh’s old-school platformer VVVVVV, which launched on iOS back in June, has gone on sale for the first time ever.
Now, iOS device owners can pick up the title for just $0.99 (as opposed to the application’s usual price of $2.99). As before, VVVVVV is optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and it weighs-in at 59.5 megabytes.
In case you’re unfamiliar with the application, VVVVVV’s iOS port is an 8-bit game in which players are situated in outer space. There, you’ll discover that a problem with your spaceship means the app’s protagonist has become separated from the rest of his crew; from here, you’ll need to solve puzzles in order to find your way back to the character’s comrades.
VVVVVV is an impressive title, and it received an honorable mention in our AppAdvice Game of the Week column for June 10, 2014. At the time, Christine explained:
We always love a good, challenging platformer, and VVVVVV is it this week. If you’re a fan of difficult platformer games, you will need to check this one out.
There’s been no better time for gamers to pick up VVVVVV: as mentioned, it’s available now for $0.99, and the application is indeed optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
