Apple CEO Tim Cook talks with Charlie Rose about Apple TV, Beats, Steve Jobs and more
Fresh off his unveiling of Apple’s “best pipeline in 25 years,” Apple CEO Tim Cook is featured as a guest on “Charlie Rose,” in which he talks with the eponymous host about Apple TV, Beats, and Steve Jobs, among other topics.
Rose’s interview with Cook is teased in a short series of clips.
In one of the clips, Cook says that TV is an area that Apple continues to have “a great interest” in. He shares his observation that TV is “stuck back in the ’70s” while touting Apple TV’s large user base and position as more than just a hobby device.

In another clip, Cook discusses Apple’s acquisition of Beats. According to him, in Beats, Apple saw impressive talent (primarily including cofounders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine), a growing headphone business, and a subscription service whose human curation “affects how you feel.”

In yet another clip, Cook talks about the legacy of the late Apple cofounder and CEO Steve Jobs. “Where was Steve in all this?” Rose asks. “Well, he’s in my heart, and he’s deep in Apple’s DNA,” Cook replies. “His spirit will always be the foundation of the company.” He then says that Jobs’ office still stands as it was, as do Jobs’ principles championing innovation and simplicity.

The interview is presented in two parts, with the first part airing tonight, Sept. 12, and the second part on Monday, Sept. 15, on PBS.
Last Tuesday, shortly after introducing the iPhone 6, the iPhone 6 Plus, Apple Pay, and the Apple Watch, Cook sent a memo to Apple employees congratulating them on playing a big part in initiating a “new chapter in Apple’s story.”
