Apple will allow iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus preorders to be picked up at an Apple Store
Preorders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will kick off early tomorrow morning. But instead of waiting for a delivery truck on launch day, Friday, Sept. 19, buyers will apparently have another option.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple will be offering in-store pickup for preorders.
That means you’ll be able to place an order at Apple’s online store and then select which Apple Store you’d like to pickup the handset at starting next Friday.
An iPhone 6 page on Apple’s site hints at the news:
The big day is coming. Pre-order iPhone 6 and have it shipped to you for free, or pick it up in store.
An Apple online chat representative indicated that the Personal Pickup option will be available at most stores, and it will exist while supplies last. More than likely, there will be a separate line for pickup on launch day.
In 2013, the option wasn’t as smooth for the iPhone 5s. It accidentally appeared, due to a glitch, just a few days after the sought-after handset was launched. That was quickly canceled, and it didn’t reappear until late September.
Apple announced the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus at a special media event on Tuesday. Prices start at $199 for the iPhone 6 and $299 for the larger iPhone 6 Plus.
