New Microsoft ad features Cortana on HTC One (M8) face to face with Siri on iPhone 5s
Microsoft has just released another ad pitting Cortana against Siri. And this time, it’s doing so with its intelligent personal assistant on the new HTC One (M8) for Windows and Apple’s on the iPhone 5s.
Titled “Mirror Mirror,” the commercial begins with Siri on the iPhone 5s looking at a mirror and singing “I Feel Pretty” from “West Side Story.” It then comes face to face with Cortana and remarks that the latter looks “nice,” with Microsoft’s voice assistant pointing out that it’s on the HTC One (M8) for Windows.
“Sweet! But I’m more than just a pretty face,” retorts Siri, to which Cortana replies, “Me, too!” The latter then mentions its ability to automatically check calendar events and traffic routes.
Siri then asks, “And you sound great, too?” Cortana responds by showing off the HTC One (M8)’s two speakers, which are both front-facing. “Oh, I only have one,” Siri says dejectedly, “and I’m sitting on it.”

Microsoft first released a Siri vs. Cortana ad last July, with which it highlighted the Halo-inspired virtual assistant’s smart and context-aware reminder feature.
Cortana made its debut last April on Windows 8.1. It’s said to make its way sometime in the future to other mobile platforms including iOS. So we may yet see Cortana tackling Siri on its home turf.
