Amid Apple Pay vs. CurrentC 'skirmish,' Google Wallet gets updated with new features
Amid the Apple Pay vs. CurrentC “skirmish,” Google has just announced a couple of new features for its very own mobile payment service, Google Wallet.
The latest version of the Google Wallet app, which is currently rolling out to users, introduces the ability to automatically add money to the Wallet Balance and to set up low-balance alerts. As noted by Google, these new features have been added to the app “so that you’ll always have money in your Wallet Balance when you need it.”
To automatically add money to your Wallet Balance, you have to schedule a recurring transfer from your bank account by specifying the amount and recurrence (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly) of the money transfer. Should you change your mind, you can cancel the automatic transfer at any time.
You can now also enable Low Balance alerts to automatically notify you when you’re running low on money in your Wallet Balance.
The last major update to Google Wallet arrived in July, bringing support for requesting money, digitizing gift cards, and notifications for shipped orders.
