Fresh off Deezer acquisition, Stitcher podcast app gains support for Apple's CarPlay
Stitcher has just updated its official iOS app with support for CarPlay.
Just a week ago, the San Francisco-based radio talk show and podcast aggregator was acquired by the Paris-based music streaming company Deezer.
As reported, while it plans to keep Stitcher’s website and apps (including Stitcher for iOS) as standalone products, Deezer intends to integrate Stitcher’s audio content into its core streaming service.
It also plans to leverage Stitcher’s reach as an in-car audio entertainment service, which has just gotten a major push with the addition of CarPlay support.
Through its latest update, Stitcher for iOS has been enhanced with support for Apple’s automobile dashboard standard. Now, you can control Stitcher navigation and playback right on your CarPlay-enabled vehicle’s dashboard and CarPlay-enabled aftermarket stereo systems, including Pioneer’s in-dash multimedia receivers.
Stitcher is one of Apple’s launch partners for CarPlay, along with Spotify, Rdio, iHeartRadio, and several other well-known apps.
The latest update to the app also delivers stability improvements and bug fixes.
