Meet Homeboy, the world's first wire-free and social home security system
Homeboy is a newly launched home security system that competes with the likes of Dropcam, which was acquired by Google’s Nest Labs earlier this year.
Homeboy is touted “the world’s first wire-free, Wi-Fi security camera,” able to last three months on a single charge. It’s also said to be the only social home security system as it lets you invite your trusted family and friend network to help protect your home when you’re away.
Homeboy works in conjunction with its official mobile apps, including the just released Homeboy app for iOS.
Homeboy for iOS helps you set up your Homeboy camera and lets you watch instant videos, customize alerts and geofences, and round up your crew. It also lets you set up your Homeboy-connected automated actions or recipes on IFTTT, which has just been updated with support for Homeboy and other “smart home” channels.
Homeboy for iOS includes the following key features:
- View Instant Video (5, 10, 20, 30 seconds)
- Get Motion Detection Alerts and Push Notifications
- Automatic Arming and Disarming via Geofence
- 1-Touch Rapid Response Calling
- Fully customizable with IFTTT
The Homeboy camera is available now to purchase from the Homeboy website for the special introductory price of $149. It begins shipping on Saturday, Nov. 1.
