New Grids app offers a gorgeous grid-based Instagram client for Mac
If you’re an avid user of Instagram (like I am) who also has a Mac (like I do), you’re probably disappointed (like I am) in the Web version of the photo-sharing service and in the apparent lack of good desktop clients thereof. Well, if you’re anything like me, then you’ll be delighted to learn that a noteworthy Instagram client for Mac has just been released in the form of Grids.
Grids features an interface that automatically adapts to its window size, expanding to its full glory in full screen and adjusting to a single column akin to mobile in widget-like form.
Grids is aptly named as it presents Instagram feeds in a gorgeous grid of photos and videos with customizable picture size, spacing, and background color. It lets you easily switch between your home feed, the popular feed, your likes feed, the nearby feed, and your profile feed. It even notifies you when new photos are added to your feed.
Grids can’t upload photos and videos to Instagram, since third-party apps aren’t yet allowed to. But the app does support liking, commenting, viewing of following activity and notifications, and searching of users and tags. It also lets you bookmark locations, tags, users (without having to follow them), and photos or videos (without having to like them).
Grids is created by ThinkTime Creations, the same developer behind the Instant: The Polaroid Instant Camera for iPhone and Instant: The Polaroid Instant Photos for iPad.
