Pebble Smartwatch now lets you automatically update apps and watchfaces

October 15, 2014

Pebble has just issued an update to the official iOS companion app of its popular iOS-connected smart watch.

The latest update to the Pebble Smartwatch app for iOS lets you get the latest versions of apps and watchfaces right onto your Pebble watch more quickly and easily.

Following the update, apps and watchfaces can be automatically updated onto your Pebble. “When available,” the Pebble team notes, “updated apps and watchfaces will be loaded onto your Pebble at times when it is idle (for example charging).”

But if you’d rather not have them automatically updated, you can disable auto app updating in the settings section of the Pebble Smartwatch app.

Speaking of the settings section, it’s now found right within the Pebble Smartwatch app, instead of being accessible from the iOS Settings app.

The new version of Pebble Smartwatch also includes bug fixes and stability improvements.

Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later, Pebble Smartwatch is available on the App Store for free.

This update comes just a couple of weeks after Pebble released a new firmware update that enabled nonstop activity tracking and sleep monitoring and implemented a $50 drop in the prices of the classic Pebble and the Pebble Steel.

About a month ago, Pebble released a firmware update that added support for iOS 8, emoji, and compass.
