Target app update ushers in Apple Pay support and a revamped design

October 20, 2014

Discount retailer Target has taken advantage of the Apple Pay rollout to update its iPhone app. Along with adding support for the mobile payment system, version 7.0 brings a revamped design.

Most importantly, users with an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, along with the upcoming iPad mini 3 and iPad Air 2 will be able to make purchases in the app by simply confirming their fingerprint on the Touch ID scanner.

As of now, Target’s retail locations aren’t able to handle Apple Pay purchases.

The app is also sporting a new coat of paint just in time for the start of the holiday shopping season next month. Along with a Featured section, users can create a shopping list, find items, and more with the app.

Designed for the iPhone/iPod touch, the Target app can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.

Only available in the United States, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users can use Apple Pay at retail stores. Around 220,000 stores in the country are equipped to handle in-store purchases. Take a look at our complete list of merchants, cards, and apps that are currently supporting the system.
