Facebook unveils a standalone Groups app for the iPhone
Facebook is continuing to go app crazy. The social networking giant has just released Facebook Groups on the App Store.
As the name suggests, it is a standalone title highlighting the same functionality found in the main Facebook app.
Once you open up the app, it will show all of your Facebook Groups on the main page. More frequently used groups appear at the top.
Users can also track notifications, create new groups, and see suggested groups to join. Those suggestions are based on pages that they’ve liked, groups friends have joined, and where they are located.
Designed for the iPhone/iPod touch, Facebook Groups can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
For now, Facebook says users can still access groups through its main app. But much like with Messenger, that may eventually change.
Just yesterday, news leaked that Facebook is designing a work-centric social networking product as well to compete against LinkedIn, Slack, and Microsoft’s Yammer.
