Popular text editor Byword updated with support for Handoff, iCloud Drive and more

November 5, 2014

Powerful text and Markdown editor Byword has just received a trio of new features in the move to version 2.3.1.

First up, users can now open documents from other apps inside Byword, which should be a very useful feature.

The app now also supports Handoff functionality for iCloud documents. So along with being able to pick right up where you left off on another iOS device, the feature will even work with the Yosemite-optimized version of Byword for Mac.

Finally, developer Metaclassy has added support for iCloud Drive.

Here’s the complete list of other changes:

-Open in exported PDF documents now works as expected;
-Fixes crash typing in HTML comments; -Images imported from Photo Library now include editing changes and retain correct orientation; -Other minor improvements and bug fixes.

A universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini, Byword can be downloaded now from the App Store for $2.99. You’ll need to have iOS 8.0 or later installed.

Originally landing back in early 2012, Byword was named one of our 10 Best Paid iPhone apps of that year. An update last month brought optimization for the higher-resolution screens of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
