Particular is the newest app from developer Ricardo Fonseca. The free iPhone app allows you to add particle effects to your photos.
As noted on the app’s iTunes page, “advanced particle systems are used in the programming of video games and special effects to create stunning visuals and simulate phenomena in nature, like rain or snow.”
In Particular, you can select from nearly 20 different types of particles, including outburst, worm hole, snow, and twirl. You can also change the position of the emitter by swiping on the screen, or change the direction of the emission by using two fingers on the screen to rotate.
You are also able to edit the speed of the particles and the time on screen. Music can also be added. Finished projects can be saved as photos, GIF files, or video. They can be shared by email, Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr.
