Following Paltalk acquisition, Tinychat goes free and goes 5.0 on iOS with all-new interface
After over a year without any updates, Tinychat for iOS has finally showed some signs of life with the launch of a long-overdue upgrade.
Notably, the new update comes a couple of weeks after the announcement that the popular video chat company had been acquired by the video messaging company Paltalk.
The update, which brings Tinychat for iOS to version 5.0, delivers various bug fixes and, more significantly, introduces an all-new interface.
Apparently, the new interface in Tinychat 5.0 doesn't offer a fully native user experience, even though it looks more at home on iOS 7 or iOS 8 than any of the app's previous versions. Be that as it may, it does allow for Tinychat's core functions of starting, joining and browsing group video chatrooms.
It's also worth noting that the latest update to Tinychat doesn't include optimizations for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, even though it arrives over three months after the devices' launch.
Note that Tinychat is now free to download, as opposed to being offered for its previous price of $0.99.
