Amazon has just issued a significant update to the official iOS app of its cloud-based photo and video management service.

First off, the update brings about a name change for the app. The app has gone by the name of Amazon Cloud Drive Photos since its launch in May 2013. That is, until now, when it has been renamed, quite simply, Amazon Photo.

In addition to a new name, the update introduces a couple of new features and a handful of other enhancements.

Most notable among these is support for full-resolution photo downloads, allowing you to download your photos from Amazon’s cloud to your device without losing a precious pixel in the process.

The app now also detects duplicate photos, preventing exact matches of your photos from being uploaded if they already exist in your account.

Moreover, the latest update to the app adds a new option for reporting problems and delivers performance improvements and bug fixes.

Amazon Photo also features improved landscape support for iPad and native resolution support for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later, Amazon Photo (formerly Amazon Cloud Drive Photos) is available on the App Store for free.

The initial free download comes with 5GB of free cloud storage. If you need more, you can subscribe to Amazon’s paid storage plans, ranging from $10 a year for 20GB to $500 per year for 1TB. Unlimited storage is also available with an Amazon Prime membership.
