CES 2015: AT&T’s Modio Smartcase brings LTE connectivity to Wi-Fi-only iPads
Have you ever wanted to add cellular connectivity to a Wi-Fi only iPad? AT&T is making that easy with its new Modio Smartcase, which was just announced at CES 2015 in Las Vegas.
Instead of having to purchase a new iPad, the case can bring the carrier’s LTE service to the iPad Air/iPad Air 2 or every generation of iPad mini.
The Modio also offers a 4,600 mAH backup battery that can provide up to 10 hours of extra use. Users can even expand their tablet’s memory with the microSD slot that supports up to a 32GB card.
Data usage can be managed with the companion app.
More information about the smartcase can be found on AT&T’s site. The carrier didn’t announce pricing and retail availability for the case, saying only it will be sold at AT&T stores and on the company’s site. We’ll let you know if we hear anything more about the Modio.
