Batter up! With the start of spring training, the league’s official MLB.com At Bat app has just been updated to version 8.0 with a number of new features.

Along with optimization for the higher resolution screens of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the iPhone version of the app is highlighted by a new UI for all 30 team pages and the league-wide scoreboard. The new team schedule navigation also makes it easy to access every game.

The player search functionality, for the iPhone version, has also been expanded to included all active and historical MLB players.

Team-by-team statistical data filters are also new to the iPhone edition. Both iPad and iPhone users can take advantage of a new UI for the newsreader. Finally, the app now supports the Spanish language.

MLB.com At Bat is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.

With an in-app purchase of $19.99 per year or $2.99 per month, users can unlock a number of premium features.

I’m a big baseball fan, so I’m glad to see the MLB.com At Bat app get even better with this new update. I can hardly wait for opening day.
