A new report says Google is developing an iPhone app for Android Wear devices
Move over Apple Watch and Pebble Time, there could soon be even more smartwatch choices for iPhone users to select from. According to French technology site 01net (via iphon.fr), Google is developing an iOS app for Android Wear devices.
The site says that Google could make an announcement about the app during its annual developer conference in late May, or possibly earlier depending on how well the Apple Watch sells.
If the report is true, it’s really not all that big of a surprise. Google has done a great job developing a huge number of powerful and handy iOS apps.
And it would make sense to allow the millions of iPhone users around the world to use Android Wear devices, like the pictured Moto 360.
What remains to be seen is how well any Android Wear device could integrate with an iPhone. The Apple Watch, because it is tied so closely to iOS, is much more than just another way to display notifications. Google would need to offer a polished solution like Pebble’s iOS app to really have any chance to sway iPhone users.
