Apple is reminding Aperture users that it will soon be removed from the Mac App Store
Earlier today, Apple sent an email to Aperture users reminding them that the app will soon be removed from the Mac App Store.
The professional-grade photo app will be replaced by the upcoming Photos for Mac, which will arrive with OS X Yosemite 10.10.3.
Here’s part of the the email (via MacRumors):
“When Photos for OS X launches this spring, Aperture will no longer be available for purchase from the Mac App Store. You can continue to use Aperture on OS X Yosemite, but you will not be able to buy additional copies of the app.
You can migrate your Aperture library to Photos for OS X, including your photos, adjustments, albums, and keywords. After migrating, your Aperture library remains intact. However, Aperture and Photos do not share a unified library, so any changes made after the migration will not be shared between the apps.”
The consumer-focused iPhoto will also be replaced by the new Photos app.
Developers received their first peek at Photos for Mac when the original OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 beta was released in February.

You can also find more information about the Photos app on Apple’s teaser site. The app, along with the new version of OS X Yosemite, is slated to arrive sometime this spring.
While I’m thrilled to ditch iPhoto, I do wonder how professional photographers feel about the removal of Aperture in favor of the new Photos app?
