Audio Books is the latest app to gain support for Apple’s CarPlay
The official app of the Audiobooks.com service is the latest title to receive support for Apple’s CarPlay.
Audio Books has been completely revamped with a new user interface and a minimalistic look featuring improved navigation. TThe reorganized settings page shows users their critical account information more prominently. The audio player has also been redesigned to offer full functionality and controls without needing any submenus.
The Audio Books app is universal and designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free. The site offers 60,000 audiobooks with more than 2,500 available to listen to for free.
If you’re interested, you can join the service for $14.95 per month and receive one audiobook per month. You can purchase additional credits if you’d like to download more books. You can listen to your first book for free during a trial period.
The Audiobooks.com service is a natural fit for CarPlay, and I’m pleased to see this updated app. I’ve enjoyed my CarPlay system, and am looking forward to trying out the audio book service.
Only a small number of third-party apps have been updated with CarPlay support, including big names like Spotify, Rdio, Overcast, and others. Hopefully Apple will allow other apps to support the system soon.
