BACtrack unveils a useful Watch app for its range of mobile breathalyzers
BACtrack, the company behind a range of smart, iPhone-compatible mobile breathalyzers, has unveiled an incoming Apple Watch app that makes it easier than ever for users to monitor their blood alcohol content (BAC).
In the Watch app, which is previewed extensively at BACtrack’s website, users can first and foremost receive results from a BACtrack device at their wrist. BACtrack offers, for instance, a product (“BACtrack Vio”) that connects wirelessly to an iPhone handset using Bluetooth; with BACtrack’s Watch app, users can receive feedback on their BAC test and have results transmitted over to their wrist once they’ve been computed.
There’s more, however. BACtrack’s Watch app also supports “ZeroLine,” a feature that provides iOS users with an estimate of when their BAC will return to zero (based on the results of your most recent test). More impressive, though, is the Watch app’s “Active ZeroLine” feature, which is exclusive to Apple’s smartwatch and offers owners of the wearable a live countdown of their estimated BAC as it falls back to zero. This is available as a Glance on Cupertino’s Watch. Online, BACtrack explains:
With the first-of-its-kind Active ZeroLine feature, get a continuous estimate of your BAC as it counts down to 0.00%. Glance at your watch and know where you stand with this unique Apple Watch feature.
All of this means users of BACtrack’s Watch app are hopefully better equipped to “make smarter decisions when drinking,” the company adds.
Besides the above, the incoming app also supports test reminders, and offers a chronology of your previous testing, too. This latter feature, BACtrack explains, should help Watch owners understand how alcohol affects their body, and the rate at which their BAC usually returns to zero.
You can download BACtrack for iOS on the App Store free of charge, and it’s optimized for the iPhone and iPod touch. Of course, Cupertino’s smartwatch, on the other hand, becomes available to preorder in a matter of hours, starting at 12:01 a.m. PDT. Are you ready?
