Rithm introduces a low-cost music streaming service to rival Spotify
Rithm, the free iOS application that allows users to share their favorite music with friends and family, is set to take on the likes of Spotify, Pandora, and even the Apple-owned Beats Music with a brand new low-cost music streaming service.
For just $3.99 per month, users of Rithm’s new “Gold” offering can access millions of songs from a range of labels (including Universal and Sony), and can play these songs on an iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. You can also add tracks into playlists or send them using an in-app instant messaging (IM) system to your pals, and a bunch of custom emojis let iOS device owners express their opinions on new music in a fun way.

You can take Rithm for a spin free of charge, and free accounts still allow users to list to 30-second clips of songs, to chat with friends, and more. It’s Rithm’s Gold streaming service, however, that has us most interested. The app itself is impressive, and Rithm’s new streaming functionality is actually a lot better than we’d envisiged. Sure, it’s no Spotify, but for a new service – and especially one that’s low-cost – Rithm Gold is a great offering.
Of course, apart from Spotify and Pandora, Apple itself is said to be prepping a Beats-inspired foray into the music streaming industry. Such a move is likely being presided over by Jimmy Iovine, CEO of Beats and music producer extraordinaire.
For now, however, anyone interested in streaming music using an iOS device should consider trying Rithm. It’s free of charge on the App Store, and streaming accounts cost just $3.99 per month – though a 14-day free trial is made available to new users, too.
