Sling TV will launch HBO in time for the 'Game of Thrones' season premiere
Move over Apple TV. There’s a new way to see HBO content without a cable subscription. Sling TV has just announced it will add HBO to its streaming TV service in time for the “Silicon Valley” and “Game of Thrones” season 5 premiere on Sunday, April 12.
HBO will be available for an extra $15 per month when users sign up for the main “Best of Live TV” core package that costs $20 per month and offers ESPN, ESPN2, AMC, A&E, TNT, History Channel, H2, TBS, Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, IFC, El Rey, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, ABC Family, Disney Channel, CNN, Lifetime, and Galavision.
Along with the Mac and iOS devices, Sling TV is available on PCs, the Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Roku, Xbox One, and Android.
Sling is promising to announce more information about HBO soon.
We’ve been big fans of the Sling TV service ever since it launched back in January. The addition of HBO makes the service even more of a powerhouse and will allow it to gain traction before Apple’s rumored similar offering possibly make a debut sometime this summer.
Apple was more than pleased to announce HBO Now on the Apple TV back in March, but the service is looking less exclusive with this news from Sling.
