Dropbox update allows users to comment on files and brings a revamped home view
The official companion app for the Dropbox cloud storage service has just added three great new features with the move to version 3.9.
First up, the commenting feature that landed last week for Web users has now made its way to the app. To bring someone into the conversation, just use the @ followed by their name or email address. You’ll also receive a notification if someone mentions you in a comment or in a file where you’re already part of the conversation.
The new home view in the app is a list of recently used files on any device or through the service’s site.
Also, with the new 1Password login extension support, you can create or access a 1Password vault in the app.
Dropbox also announced, that in the next few weeks, users will be able to create Microsoft Office documents directly from the app. A Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file will be saved into whatever folder you were in when you selected the “Create Document” button.
As you probably remember, Microsoft and Dropbox unveiled a new partnership late last year featuring more integration between the two apps. Office users can share Dropbox links directly from those apps and even access and save files stored in their Dropbox.
Dropbox is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now for free.
