When you’re editing photos or creating images on your Mac or iOS device, it just makes sense to use a stylus. Full support for the capabilities of these devices isn’t a given, though. To provide that support, PicsArt, a photo editing app from the company behind one of the largest mobile creative communities in the world, has integrated with FiftyThree’s Pencil stylus. This stylus is available for all iOS devices, and is modeled after a carpenter’s pencil with a built-in eraser. Pencil’s tapered tip allows for intuitive, settings-free control of line widths.
Recognizing surface pressure
In the latest update to PicsArt, several new features and tools are introduced along with Pencil integration. Users can add artistic touches to their photos and other images like never before. For example, a new Surface Pressure tool integrates with Pencil to allow users to create lines of any size without changing settings. You can use the point for fine details and the angled edge for broader strokes.
Erase your mistakes with ease
You can also use Eraser with Pencil to carve away your work precisely, getting to what you mean to have in the image while taking out the rest. Simply flip Pencil around, and PicsArt recognizes the eraser tool.
Other new features include a lens blur effect, new filters, and the ability to create animated GIF images. Finally, an update to PicsArt’s Square Fit Tool allows users to apply colors or blurred or patterned background effects directly to their images before sharing them to Instagram.
PicsArt is designed for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and requires iOS 7 or later. The app is available for free on the App Store, with in-app purchases for additional fonts, templates, frames, and other artistic tools.
