GoPro’s latest camera, the Hero4 Session, plays nice with iPhone

July 6, 2015

Action camera pioneer GoPro is going small with its latest device. The just announced Hero4 Session is 50 percent smaller and 40 percent lighter than the previous-generation Hero4 Black and Silver cameras.

One of the main reasons for the smaller form factor is the new camera’s waterproof design that doesn’t require a separate housing.

The Session can capture 720p, 1080p, and 1440p high-definition video and up to eight megapixel photos.

Thanks to the smaller design, operating the camera is also much easier. A short press of the shutter button powers on the camera and automatically starts capturing video. A long press of the shutter turns on power and starts timelapse photo capture. Another press of the button saves the content and turns the Session4 off.

With the camera’s built-in Wi-Fi, iOS device users can also take advantage of the powerful and free companion GoPro app. With the app, outdoor enthusiasts receive full remote control of all camera functions and even see of live previews for framing that perfect shot.

Users can also view photos and videos and copy them directly to an iPhone or iPad.

The Hero4 Session retails for $399.99 and will be available starting on Sunday, July 12 directly from GoPro or a number of other retailers. It is also compatible with GoPro mounts and accessories.
