Microsoft’s new Send app brings iMessage simplicity to email
Another interesting app from Microsoft is bringing the simplicity of text messaging to email.
Aptly named Send, the app isn’t a replacement for your usual email client. Instead, it is designed to be used in specific situations where a quick and short message is called for in a business setting.
In-and-out emailMost importantly, you’ll only be able to see the emails started in the app, not your entire Inbox. Other stalwarts of email messages, like subject lines, salutations, and signatures are not required.
Someone can also respond to a Send message even if they don’t have the app installed.
Visually, the app resembles any modern messaging client with bright colors and a simple user interface. And since its only available to users with an Office 365 account, all conversations are synced with Outlook if you want to continue the conversation at a computer.
Along with quick replies, users will also be able to view their frequent and recent contacts directly from the app.
WrapupSend is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and can be downloaded now on the App Store for free. It’s currently available to users in the United States and Canada.
I was able to try out Send for a few minutes and definitely came away impressed. I think it would be a great tool to use in professional situations where you wouldn’t feel comfortable giving someone your phone number to text message.
