Could a 4-inch 'iPhone 6c' appear in late-October?
There’s been some chatter over the past few months concerning the possibility of a new, 4-inch iPhone coming from Apple. This anticipated device, labeled “iPhone 6c” in most pieces, could be scheduled for a late-October launch, if a recent report has it right.
The news comes from MIC Gadget (via Cult of Mac), with the publication citing information provided from a company which manufacturers iPhone cases. According to MIC Gadget, Apple has reportedly told the case manufacturer in question that a 4-inch “iPhone 6c” is due to reach Apple Store shelves in the last week of October. This device, MIC Gadget adds, will look much like the current-generation iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but with a screen spanning 4 inches only.
Of course, the information we’ve received so far concerning the chance of an “iPhone 6c” from Apple has been mixed, at best. Back in July, for instance, a report claimed that Apple had ditched plans for an “iPhone 6c” handset amid fears that the launch of such a device would cannibalize iPhone 6 sales.
Before this, a further note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo added that a new 4-inch iPhone from Apple would likely arrive in 2016, rather than 2015. Yet despite this, an image purportedly depicting the rear shell of an “iPhone 6c” handset surfaced online some months earlier.
Apple is expected to unveil its next-generation iPhones next month, at a special event scheduled for early-September. It’ll be interesting to see what Apple brings to the table for 2015, and if an “iPhone 6c” is indeed included in its next-generation iPhone offerings.
We’ll keep you posted on this front.
