Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Apple may soon be introducing an official Apple Watch charging dock. First reported by iGen.fr, the product is simply called the Magnetic Charging Dock.

As you can see, the dock is circular and contains an Apple Watch charging disc in the center. A Lightning cable is also included. You will need to provide a USB wall charger.

The dock’s official packaging.

Along with lying flat, the disc can be be propped up. That would allow a watch to be charged lying flat or in a horizontal position.

So that means you’ll be able to activate the Nightstand Mode in WatchOS 2.0. The special display will illuminate when you press the Digital Crown, side button, or the screen. It will show the current time, date, and any alarms that you’ve set. When the alarm sounds, press the side button to turn it off or the Digital Crown to snooze.

The reported product packaging lists a retail cost of €89, which is around $95 in the United States.

No official launch date is known. But I wouldn’t be shocked to see it land sometime this month.

If you like the general idea of Apple’s dock, but aren’t thrilled with the price, the Bluelounge Kosta is a nice alternative you can buy now. Officially called a charging coaster, it can charge your watch in two different positions and doesn’t take up a lot of room on a desk or nightstand.

Bluelounge’s option features a similar design and costs a lot less.

It retails for $14.99 and is available in light gray, dark gray, or green. You can read more about the dock in my review from August.
