Surprise: You can already get the iPad Pro at an Apple Store

November 11, 2015

As expected, Apple has flipped the switch for online preorders of the iPad Pro today, Nov. 11, through its online store on the Web and the official Apple Store app. But contrary to expectations, Apple has also made the new tablet available to pick up in its retail stores today.

Indeed, when Apple announced the start of preorders for the iPad Pro, it stated that the device would arrive at its retail stores, select carriers, and authorized resellers starting “later this week,” presumably meaning Friday, Nov. 13.

But guess what. As it turns out, the iPad Pro arrives at some Apple retail stores at least in the U.S. as early as today, with the device listed at least in the Apple Store app as available for in-store pickup.

If you want to get hold of the iPad Pro today, your best bet is to purchase the device via the official Apple Store app. Specify your preferred model and then, instead of choosing delivery for your order (which currently takes one day, meaning your order will be delivered by Friday), opt for in-store pickup instead by tapping “Check Availability” on the order page (right below the line that says “Available for pickup”). You can then check the pickup availability of the product at nearby stores or at stores searchable by city or zip code. Tap the store where you’d like to fetch your order and then proceed with your payment to complete your reservation.

The iPad Pro starts at $799 for the 32GB model, which is available only with Wi-Fi (i.e., no Wi-Fi + Cellular option). Its 128GB variant is priced at $949 with Wi-Fi and $1,079 with Wi-Fi + Cellular. It comes in three metallic finishes: silver, gold, and space gray.

The iPad Pro is the largest and most powerful iPad yet with a 12.9-inch Retina display and a 64-bit A9X chip. It also features compatibility with the new Apple Pencil pressure-sensitive stylus and the Smart Keyboard.

The Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard are also now available for preorder. The Apple Pencil is priced at $99 and the Smart Keyboard at $169. Both accessories are currently listed as available to ship in one to two weeks. Expected to arrive in stores as early as next week, they are currently not available for in-store pickup.
