The first update of 2016 is here for the insanely popular Minecraft: Pocket Edition.
Red is the stone
Version 0.14.0 features a number of new additions for Redstone builders.
If you don’t remember, Redstones arrived with an update in November. It’s a structure that allows gamers to control powered mechanisms – all the way from simple devices like a light switch to more complicated fare like elevators. It definitely opens up the possibilities in the already multi-faceted game.
The update adds other Redstone components like comparators, repeaters, dispensers, droppers, hoppers, trapped chests, and various additional Minecart types.
Here’s a recent livestream that shows off a number of new features from the update. Click here if you can’t see it.
Other additions include spooky witches and their huts, complete with cauldrons filled with random potions and the ability to dye armor.
And along with slime blocks and wearable pumpkins, item frames allow players to display their coolest items for all to see.
Minecraft: Pocket Edition is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and all iPad models. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for $6.99.
And if you can’t get enough of the brick-building phenomenon, also take a look at downloading Minecraft: Story Mode. The game, produced by Telltale in partnership with Mojang, is available now and costs $4.99. The first part of the five-part episodic series is included. The other parts can be unlocked with in-app purchases.
Most recently, episode four arrived in late December.
