The official YouTube updated to fully support the larger iPad Pro
More than three months after the iPad Pro hit the market, the official YouTube app has just been updated to fully support the larger and higher resolution screen of the tablet.
Previously, anyone who has used the app with the iPad Pro probably noticed that a number of videos weren’t sharp or clear. The new update should definitely change that. Unfortunately, the app still doesn’t support iOS 9 multitasking gestures for iPads including Split View and Picture in Picture.
The Picture in Picture function would definitely be useful to accomplish other tasks while watching the latest cat video at the same time.
Version 11.06 also fixes a bug that caused the keyboard to freeze while commenting and an issue that caused crashing after adding an account on an iOS 7 device.
YouTube is universal and designed for the iPhone/iPod touch, all iPad models, and the Apple TV. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
A third-party option
If you’re looking for Picture in Picture for YouTube videos, there is a nice third-party option. We’ve previously told you about CornerTube for the iPad. The $2.99 app brings the feature to all applicable iPads.
It also offers a number of other features that make the PiP experience even better. For example, the Notification Center widget can detect a YouTube link on your clipboard, allowing quick and easy access to the video.
