Time to sharpen your blade as The Walking Dead: Michonne arrives on iOS
As highly expected, The Walking Dead: Michonne has come out on iOS.
The Walking Dead: Michonne is the latest installment in the episodic adventure game series developed by Telltale Games, based on the acclaimed “The Walking Dead” comic book series created by Robert Kirkman.
Bridging the gapThe game centers on the “untold journey” of Michonne, an iconic character from the comic book series who’s “haunted by her past and coping with unimaginable loss and regret.” Specifically, it explores the title character’s absence from Issues No. 126 to No. 139 of the comic book series. And apparently, her nonappearance involves plenty of blade-wielding and zombie-killing elsewhere in the series’ post-apocalyptic world.
“In many ways, Michonne herself is a reflection of the world of ‘The Walking Dead,’” Kirkman said when the game was announced in June last year. “She is brutal and cold on the outside, but deep beneath what is broken, she remains hopeful, trying to claw her way out of the darkness that surrounds her. In our effort to bring the world of the comic and the world of the Telltale series closer together, there is no greater character than Michonne to help bridge that gap.”
Michonne is voiced by Samira Wiley of “Orange is the New Black” fame.
Spanning three episodesTypical of Telltale’s games, The Walking Dead: Michonne is a cinematic interactive adventure game of choice and consequence, where every decision the player makes influences the flow of the story.
But atypical of Telltale’s games, which usually span five episodes, The Walking Dead: Michonne comprises only three episodes.
It premieres today with its first episode, titled “In Too Deep.” Take a look at the episode’s teaser video, which doubles as the launch trailer of the game itself:

The game’s middle episode, “Give No Shelter,” will arrive in March and the final episode, “What We Deserve,” will come in April.
