Some AirPods Orders are Shipping Earlier Than Expected
Apple is continuing with its mantra to under promise and over deliver when dealing with shipping times for popular products. A number of customers who have placed AirPods orders are seeing their estimated delivery move up significantly.
Some happy customers
MacRumors has rounded up some of the improving AirPods shipping times.
“Just received my shipping notice for my AirPod order,” said MacRumors reader York in an email. “The original delivery date was January 12, but it should arrive on December 28th.” Likewise, another reader with an original December 29 delivery estimate has now seen his AirPods ship with an estimated delivery date of December 23.
Anyone looking to purchase a pair before Christmas will have a more difficult journey. Your best bet would be a local Apple Store or a third-party retailer like Best Buy. Use this great online tool to see if an Apple Store has any in stock.

AirPods feature Apple’s new custom Apple W1 chip, which uses optical sensors and a motion accelerometer to detect when the earbuds are in your ears. The wireless earbuds deliver up to five hours of music playback on a single charge.
The included charging case holds additional charges for more than 24 hours of listening time. A quick 15 minutes in the case can give you up to three hours of listening time.
Many of the early reviews were mostly positive praising the battery life, Bluetooth range, and other features.
AirPods can be purchased now directly from Apple and other retailers for $159. Any order placed from Apple today has a shipping estimate of six weeks, which would be sometime in early February.
