Amazon Kindle App Update Brings Goodreads Integration, Revamped Design
The Amazon Kindle app has just received a substantial update with the move to version 6.0. Along with integration with the Goodreads community, there are a number of other notable new features that readers should definitely appreciate.
The most notable addition is integration with the Amazon-owned Goodreads network. Boasting more than 65 million members, you can find new books to read, connect with other who like similar books, and share thoughts about any book you’ve read.
All of those features can be found in the Community tab.
Other changes include a revamped design that will showcase larger book covers, new fonts, and a new app icon. You can also select a light or dark theme.
A search bar can now be seen across the app.
A bottom navigation bar will show an icon of the book you’re currently reading so you can easily get back to reading at almost anywhere in the app. You can also switch between pages of the book, library, and more.
Finally, a search bar is now available throughout the entire app.
Just to note, the app can’t actually be used to purchase any reading material from Amazon. Because the online retailer doesn’t want to give a 30 percent cut to Apple, you’ll need to purchase books on Amazon’s site and then send it to the Kindle app to start reading.
The app is designed for the iPhone and all iPad models. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
