Sketchy Reddit Post Says Don't Expect Amazon Prime Video App for Apple TV Until October 26 or Later
We’ve might have some bad news for any Amazon Prime Video fans looking forward to the app headed to the Apple TV. According to an unconfirmed and sketchy Reddit post, the app might not land until late October at the earliest.
Here’s the complete post:
Wanted to make this throwaway account after yesterday’s debacle. I saw many people get upset so I wanted to issue this warning: do not expect Amazon to launch before October 26th. The app is done, and has been done for months already. However there are a lot of politics going on beyond my pay grade that are pushing the launch back. And just to clarify, October 26 is the earliest I would expect it. Launch could be pushed well into November.
We obviously have no way of confirming the information posted under the username “AmazonVideoEngineer.” But has been interesting that we still haven’t seen the app on the Apple TV, especially with the new Apple TV 4K landing earlier this month.
The app news was originally announced back at WWDC in June, and many expected Apple to confirm a launch date during the September media event. Amazon also had a high-profile hardware launch event earlier in the week that would have also been perfect to announce some type of news.
Interestingly, on Tuesday, Amazon added a listing for Apple’s latest streaming device leading some to speculate the app could land soon on the Apple TV. But currently, that listing is no longer appearing on Amazon.
And the wait continues.
