Apple Announces the New iPad Pro Lineup With M2 Chip
The top new feature is inside the iPad. An M2 chip. Thanks to an 8-core CPU, the chip is 15 percent faster than the M1 model. A 10-core GPU offers up to 35 percent faster than the previous generation.
And the new processor does more than just provide a speedier experience. With a new media engine/image single processor and better cameras, you can now capture ProRes video and transcode ProRes footage up to three times faster.
Anyone with a second-generation Apple Pencil can also use the new Hover experience with the latest iPad Pro models. The stylus can be detected up to 12mm above the display allowing you to see a preview of the mark before it’s made.
With the feature, you can sketch and illustrate with even greater precision. As an example of the feature, when using Scribble, text fields will automatically expands when the stylus is closer to the screen. Hover can also be used by third-party apps.
Both iPad Pro models also support Wi-Fi 6E, the fastest possible wireless speeds. Cellular models also support more 5G networks around the world.
You can order the iPad Pro starting today and it will officially arrive next Wednesday, Oct. 26.
The 11-inch iPad Pro will start at $799 for the Wi-Fi model and $999 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. The larger 12.9-inch models $1,099 for the Wi-Fi version and $200 more for the Wi-Fi + Cellular edition.
