Apple Seeds iOS 11.2 Beta 6 to Registered Developers

Apple's Software
December 1, 2017

The latest version of Apple’s iOS software is moving closer to general release as iOS 11.2 beta 6 was just released to developers.

The new Sports section is available in the TV app in iOS 11.2.

We’ll let you know if we find any new features in this beta version.

Earlier this week, Apple switched on the previously announced Sports section of the TV app in iOS 11.2 and tvOS 11.2.

Apple is also introducing a new pop-up message to better explain what happens when users toggle Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in Control Center. After iOS 11 landed in September, we first noted that toggling the features in Control Center won’t completely disable the protocols. And the new pop-ups are designed to make that more clear to users.

Another new feature of the software is Apple Pay Cash. A Venemo-like service allows users to send and receive money using Apple Pay through iMessage.

Whenever you receive money through Apple Pay Cash, it’s added to a virtual debit card that’s available in the Wallet app. The card can be used to make Apple Pay purchases in brick-and-mortar stores, apps, or on the web.

If you’re using one of the latest beta versions, you can find Apple Pay in your iMessage app drawer. You can send or request money from other users with the beta software installed. If someone isn’t running the new beta, you’ll just see a message that says that they can’t accept payments.

We’re expecting Apple to release iOS 11.2 to the general public very soon, possibly as early as next week.
