Telltale’s much-hyped Batman game has finally stepped out of the shadows and into the App Store.
That’s right. Batman – The Telltale Series (as the game is officially called) is out now on iOS, over nine months after its announcement and over a month after its initial launch on desktop and console.
What’s in store in Batman? Well, in keeping with the fractured psyche of the titular superhero at its center, the game offers a split — a split between the familiar and the new, that is.
Like Telltale’s other top-tier titles, such as Walking Dead: The Game and The Wolf Among Us, Batman is an episodic point-and-click graphic adventure game. It incorporates Telltale’s trademark choice-and-consequence gameplay style, with decisions made as the billionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne having an impact on his double life as the caped crusader Batman, and vice versa.

Batman is also rendered in Telltale’s signature non-photorealistic visual style. In particular, it’s been designed to look like a living comic book of sorts, with works by legendary Batman comic book artists serving as inspirations.
As for its storyline, Telltale’s Batman is touted as presenting an entirely new take on the Batman universe. While it’s based on the Batman comic book series by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, it’s not tied to any previous adaptation of Batman in any medium.
