Carrot Weather Update Focuses on Even Better Notifications
Carrot Weather has always been known for its great notifications system that gives users up-to-date information about the weather around them. But with a new update, the app’s notification system is getting even better.
Even More Notifications
Version 4.11 makes some changes to the subscription tiers that add additional features. They are now known as Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3.
Tier 3 members in the United States and Canada can now receive a notification after a nearby lightning strike.
In the United States, United Kingdom, and southern Canada, Tier 3 members of the app will provide precipitation notifications. This won’t change how Tier 1 and Tier 2 members receive Apple Watch rain alerts.
Another perk for Tier 3 members is a notification when a storm cell is nearing your location.
Tier 2 and Tier 3 members can also customize a specific notification when a data point goes above or below a threshold.
And the update brings more than just the improved notifications. The app now offers a critical alert feature. For certain weather alerts, like a tornado warning, a noise will sound even if your phone is muted or set to Do Not Disturb. Only in iOS 12, Carrot Weather is the first app to support the feature.
Other additions include full-screen weather maps for iPad, an improved dark mode, and a new location details screen.
Designed for the iPhone and all iPad models, Carrot Weather can be downloaded now on the App Store for $4.99.
In-app purchases can unlock different premium tiers and additional features.
